Pennsylvania Dutch Blanket Chest

A polychrome painted blanket chest, poplar throughout. The chest consists of a rectangular molded and hinged lid above a dovetailed case. Interior with till, iron lock, hinges and hasp. The front case features two painted lunetted or notched rectangular panels depicting a large central flower in the center surrounded by four smaller flowers, all emanating from a red urn or pitcher within a scribed and lunetted rectangular frame. The top features two painted lunetted or notched rectangular panels depicting red and black six-pointed stars, within a scribed lunetted rectangular frame.
