A beautiful Biedermeier wardrobe or armoire with two doors and adjustable shelves inside. It seems to be made of solid European pine with a faux bois finish, imitating the effects of a dense burl. Ebonized turned feet and a carved upper mantle.
Faux bois is a french term for "false wood" and refers to the artistic imitation of wood grain usually by paint. This is a very time consuming technique that probably took the artisan weeks to complete the finishing alone.
